Shame on Rutgers University
53Shame on Rutgers University
I say shame on Rutgers for assigning the project of sending students out to try and get children who lost parents in the Terrorist Attacks of 9/11 to relive their story. They even told them it would be easy to find people who'll talk about it. That should be the first clue, that you shouldn't be trying to get people to talk about. I say shame on the school, and shame on the students who, took a semester to learn all they could about the attacks so they could do this assignment. In my opinion, and I'm very opinionated, this is very poor taste, and the college, the faculty members and the students all involved should apologize immediately for this attempt to recall up bad memories that they don't want to talk about. Even going to their homes, and then to their college dorms, because they didn't think what they got at the house was what they wanted. This is sickening and appalling. I know one thing for sure, when my daughter is old enough for college, I will strongly bid against any thought of Rutgers for this blasphemy of a sacred day. To me this is worse than any NCAA Sports Scandal, and every voice in America should demand Rutgers show respect of the day. I just can't find words strong enough to describe how this story made me feel. Yes we need to remember September 11 for all times, but we should NEVER EVER send students out to try and get those effected most by it to tell their story. This makes me want to barf, I'm so upset. I have posted the link to the story from CNN.com if to wish to read it. I'm wishing I hadn't now. And to think, I was hungry.
'This picture haunts Daddy': 9/11 generation finds its voice

Megan Schuster grew up with September 11. Like others of her generation, particularly kids from the suburbs that surround New York City, she learned too soon about fear and loss.

I was on the East Coast at that time. There are plenty of ADULTS who don't want to talk about it either. I agree, the kids should not have been the target of this study.
